Position description:
Synopsis: The successful applicant will have the opportunity to support the most advanced distributed training operation in the US Air Force. The multi-time DOD award winning Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) at Kirtland AFB, NM is the Air Force’s primary hub for distributed combat training exercises, testing and experimentation. The DMOC’s training environments enable Warfighters to experience and practice tactics and procedures in a highly-realistic and globally specified location. The DMOC architecture integrates synthetic (virtual and/or constructive) simulations across various networks to support a battlespace that accurately models adversary and friendly weapons and weapons systems, focusing on Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems. Integrating live, virtual and constructive (LVC) elements, the DMOC is a major contributor to the US Air Force’s Operational Training Infrastructure (OTI). The DMOC paves the way to bridge the gap for fifth generation training in air, space, and cyber domains.

Future Duties & Responsibilities:
The future Senior Systems Administrator will directly support the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) Infrastructure, Development and Engineering (IDE) effort. A successful candidate will be able to provide technical expertise for the IDE of the DMOC battlespace to support execution of DMOC training events, tests, and experimentation activities as well as other DMOC appropriate initiatives such as design and implementation of DMO standards. Specific support includes pre-event, event execution, and post-event activities. This includes, but is not limited to:
– Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
– Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
– Sets up administrator and service accounts
– Maintains system documentation
– Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products
– Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery
– Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources
– May program in an administrative language
– Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
– Provides advice and training to end-users
– Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
– Participates in special projects as required

– Additional skillsets
o LVC/DMO experience highly desired.
o Microsoft Suite proficiency.
o Linux experience highly desired.

Required Qualifications to be Successful in this Role:
– 2 – 5 years of direct experience
– BS/BA Degree
– SECRECT clearance is required (or condition of continued employment to successfully complete in first 6 months of employment)
